Luckily the parts they did replace were there, so it went on as planned. Before I sent it in they told me there was a possibility they wouldn't be able to do it because of it's age and the possibility that replacement parts may not be available if they were needed. It didn't come cheap, but you can see the awesome results in the photos when they were done with it. I Talked to the guys at the S&W Center and we discussed a full out restoration. The only reason I restored mine was because it was pretty badly rusted and I wanted to protect it from further deterioration. It lloks great and you'll wreck and recoverable value if you mess with it. It should be stamped 'Mod 18' like Wisegrassguy mentioned earlier.ĭon't do anything to your revolver. If yours does it will be in the hinge area inside on the crane. It appears that yours is possibly one of the last of that year that didn't have a model designator stamped in the crane.Īt some point in time 1957 they started stamping the model numbers inside the crane. K317822, and your number is close to that. The last recorded serial number for the K-frames in 1957 was serial No. We can't be specific, but it appears yours would have been shipped near the end of the year.
